Corporate News: News Corp.’s FX Adds FXX

Last Thursday News Corp which owns FX Networks released its plans to launch a new cable network called FXX. This network will help advertisers and marketers as it will target different demographic groups when compared to the original FX channel. FXX will target ages 18 to 34, and FX Networks will move some of their original comedy shows that appeal mainly to that age group. Popular shows such as “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia”, “Parks and Recreation”, “How I Met Your Mother” and “The League”. FXX plans to air these original comedies because it will help bring their target demographic to the new cable network channel. If they gain enough viewers, FX Networks can raise advertising revenue by giving marketers a more specific target market. The age group the FXX cable network is targeting are what most marketers are looking for. Therefore the popularity of this channel could be big, which is why the FX Networks is planning on adding over 20 new scripted series in the next few years.
